About
After obtaining a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Paris 8 University in 1997, Alban Teurlai began his first career as an editor, working for more than 10 years. From commercials to music videos, feature films, and documentaries, he navigated from one format to another, already showing a preference for documentary filmmaking.
In 2009, he and Thierry Demaizière founded the production company Falabracks. Teurlai moved into directing, and the duo produced and directed numerous documentaries for television, streaming platforms, and then cinema. Two of their films were nominated for César Awards in the "Best Documentary Film" category.
Alban Teurlai is in charge of the photography and editing of each of their films.
Their latest works include Cœur Sanglant, a raw portrait of actor Vincent Lindon broadcast on Arte, and Anatomies, a short documentary screened at CENTQUATRE-PARIS as part of the "Beaux Gestes" festival.
In addition to his work as a documentary filmmaker, Teurlai has been photographing his travels, film shoots, and daily life for 15 years. Thousands of images have accumulated over the years, combining portraits, abstract, melancholic, or cocasse images, chance encounters, street photography, and travel memories. These images have been sorted and are presented on this website in a reduced and updated selection.
French born in 1977, Alban Teurlai lives in Thomery.
